I've always wanted to learn how to cook. In my father's side of the family, everyone can cook. My dad, my uncles and even the guy that my aunt is married to are good cooks. Growing up, I dreamt of having a partner that can cook good food. Babe, you can still train and make my dream come true. LOL!
I wanted to cook chopseuy initially but I don't know how to choose the best chicken. I told Lorraine that I will cook sopas instead and she told me to use corned beef in place of chicken and liver. My cooking turned out surprisingly well. I made a separate blog for my cooking so I can keep an online diary of my progress and my recipes.

I am very much challenged in the kitchen. Sure I can fry but even frying sunny side up gives me difficulty. It was only last year when my friend Doris showed me how to do it that I learnt the secret. Back in the UK, I tried my hands on cooking but my interest seems to be going on and off. One minute I am enjoying it, the next minute I am craving for my usual fast food. I tried to recreate famous Chinese takeaways out of necessity and I have succeeded. The problem is, I forgot how to do it now.
I was ill the past few days and still am now. I needed my comfort food so I decided to cook a pasta dish for breakfast. I went to the supermarket last night and bought chorizo de bilbao, the only chorizo that is available in the supermarket to my disappointment, onion and garlic.
My procedure was muy facil(Very Easy in Spanish. I'll be injecting Span words and phrases in my blog so sue me.) I cooked the Chorizo de Bilbao in low heat then I slowly added the garlic and onions while continuously sauteing the ingredients. Once everything was cooked, I add in the olives and pepper to taste. I use what I had in my fridge. My cooking was average but it's enough to satisfy my cravings. :)
This was my finished product. I was very hungry then. I took one shot and ate everything up. PIG!

Lorraine and I were both excited with the new oven purchase. When we were younger, we used to watch a lot of cooking shows hoping that we can someday learn how to cook and bake properly. Well, she did learn how to cook while I am still struggling to make a simple Filipino dish. I wasn't trained in the kitchen at all although I know most of the theories. It's about time that we put the baking theories into good use.
Yesterday, we spent literally the whole afternoon, 3 hours to be exact, browsing and taking our time buying the baking ingredients. It wasn't the most complicated dish but since it's our first, we want it to be perfect. :P

Photo opp! Photo opp!

This pack is ridiculously big!!

And so is this Steam Bun. I wonder which fatty can finish this. Hmmm... I know someone who likes steam bun so much, he ate it 4 nights in a row.

Zappron. I thought it's supposed to be spelled as saffron? Saffron is very cheap in my country.
For dinner, we made lasagna. We mostly relied on Lorraine's sense of taste and our food network theories.
So, From these:

To this:

Yum Yum! We successfully made one! It was both meaty and cheesy. We love cheese so much we can never have enough of it. Next time, cupcakes!
Another Matthew Williamson for H&M Sarong(which I will use as a scarf)
H&M dress
I am going crazy with prints at the moment.
Yesterday has been a good day for me. I went to college, had a nice lunch and chat with my girl friends, went shopping, saw Angels and Demons which is good by the way (Thank God for the Rome trip. I can totally picture the whole place although the tour guide told us that they weren't allowed to shoot in the Vatican City ), saw American Idol, had a sit down dinner with friends and got drunk.
I woke up with hang over this morning and diarrhea. Too much info, so typical of me. :-P I went grocery shopping today and made sweet and sour Chicken, met up with a friend and almost bought DVD's cause got ID'd on the till. I showed my ID but they were looking for a VALID ID. My college ID with birthdate doesn't count. I was disappointed. I had Azumi, Wasabi and Priceless on my hand. I was planning to have a Foreign Film/Action Night. :(
Potential Amsterdam Outfit?
Matthew Williamson for H&M Sarong worn as a scarf and Mango Dress
My Bday Dress from Mango. I can't seem to stop buying a bday dress.
Okay, not quite all Matthew Williamson but I am dying to post the yummy sarong that I got! It is a steal for 15 quid! This is Matthew Williamson we are talking about, he used to work for Pucci, hence the fab prints! I might grab another sarong tomorrow and probably the peacock top. Hope they still have it on stock. *fingers crossed* My friend got the wrap around dress that I picked up for her. XS didn't fit me!
PS: I made pasta carbonara today and it is a success! :)
I've been very unproductive today. I skipped walking 2 days in a row, woke up late(I've been waking up late since I lost my job) and I haven't tidied up the flat. So to do something productive, I roll out of bed and went to the grocery to get the ingredients for the meat balls/ pattie that I've been meaning to cook since last night. Yes, I am turning into a domestic goddess these days and that's what I've always wanted to achieve. :-) My cooking was a okay. I just had a slight problem knowing when the ground beef is cook or not. Sorry. It was my first time doing it. I grew up at my dad's side of the family. Everyone seems to be a good cook there especially the guys. They never asked us(my siblings) to do any hour chores or help them out with cooking. Not that we were bunch of spoilt brats but that's how we were brought up. So doing things on my own is a new concept to me when I moved to the UK. In here, we have to do absolutely everything ourselves - no helpers. I loved the independence though. I know that it will prepare me for the future. I should stop rambling now. Time to tidy up and prepare the clothes for tom's adventure.
I didn't go to college today. I am experiencing muscles aches, headaches and nausea in the past few days. I am going to Alton Towers in Wednesday and I don't want my condition to get into the way so I am taking a full bed rest. Lie. I went out to buy ingredients for our dinner. I promised my mum and my sister that I will be cooking Pasta All Alfredo for them today from the 20 minute cookbook that I found in the piles of books in one corner of the living room and my cooking was a success. :) One step to my dream of being a homemaker. Hahaha!
